As you may know…I love nature!

I love being in it, experiencing and exploring. The mountains to me, are a place of wonder and adventure.

Rock climbing, hiking, camping, and most recently skiing are some of my favorite ways to interact with the mountains.

grAPhic Scores

What are graphic scores?

When music entered the era of modern art, some composers found traditional music notation limiting and sought to create visual representations of their compositions via visual art.

I’ve always been fascinated by this idea and recently started dabbling in creating such works.

Here I was trying to create something that was a mix of Egyptian hieroglyphics, circuit diagrams, and pre-classical music notation.

These are more visual than musically functional, but they are a first step for me in a new of composing.

The upright bass is in itself a constant inspiration to me.

I think in terms of the bass, the sound, the feel. In fact, when I want to hear music in my mind (when I am away from the instrument), I have to imagine myself playing the upright bass in order to hear it!

Therefore, playing with the form of the upright bass was a natural place for me to experiment artistically.

Here I was trying to abstract the structure and play with some color schemes that I like.

(can you tell I like the pink/light-blue mixtures?)

The ENd

I am not sure where this is all going. I thought about making some prints or album artwork…

…perhaps I’ll make some postcards and send them around the world…

Either way, I hope you enjoyed this little tour through my virtual gallery!
