I've been playing music professionally for my entire adult life and have been blessed to study with the masters, tour the world, and perform with some of the greatest improvisers on the planet such as Ravi Coltrane, Donny McCaslin, and Odean Pope.

However, that's not the full story …

I grew up in New Jersey just across the river from NYC, where I was exposed to every kind of music possible: from classical to punk-rock, hip-hop to jam-bands and everything in between.

In high-school, I spent most of my time going to concerts, playing in garage bands, and working at the mall just enough to buy the next Radiohead album and keep my old jeep running.

Although I was obsessed with music, I never saw it as my calling until my father unexpectedly passed-away …

While cleaning out his house, I stumbled upon the 'Bill Evans Live at the Montreux Jazz Festival' LP … as the stylus touched the vinyl and the first notes hit my ears … I knew my life would never be the same …

Now I live in Philadelphia

creating my sonic experimentations which have been described by various persons as 'art-punk', 'eco-jazz', or 'neoteric noise' … however, you and I both know that genre is an outdated marketing construct …

You see, classifications and boundaries never made any sense to me. I've always preferred to be my own person, take in an experience, and appreciate it for what it is: free of the projections of others.

You know what I mean ?

As an artist, self-reflection isn't always my strong suit … I'm more of a 'in-the-moment' kinda guy … but I think it's fair to say that my music is less about any genre-specific 'isms' and more about the journey …

I live for deep experiences, authentic adventures , and connecting with like-minded people …

In the very recent past … I was signed to a major NYC record-label … I thought I had it made … isn't that every musician's dream ?

Turns out, it was more like a nightmare.

I'll spare you the details but the experience made me feel like a cog in a machine and left me longing for the days when music was about serving a community of like-minded listeners and not the profit margins of corporate bean-counters.

This experience led me to believe my career in music was over …

but then one day I had an idea …

what if I interacted with fans directly, just like I used to do back in my high-school garage band days ?

 What would happen if I cut out the middle-man? After all, are the music industry gate-keepers actually enhancing the experience for the listener ?

 As a true believer in deep experiences, I'd have to say: NO WAY !

 Enough, I say, of the music critics, toxic 'jam-sessions', grant-funded exclusionists, academic ivory towers, nepotistic pedigrees, virtuosic tyrants, and the many other ego-driven bad actors of the music industry.

 Music used to be mysterious, vibrant, and vivid while still being communal, interactive, and spontaneous. Not a data point on a streaming service's algorithm or a talking point for a CEO in the boardroom.

 What I want for my music is simple: true connection through auditory adventure …

More MUSIC … less industry :)
