/// classical and orchestral music ///

People often think of me as a ‘jazz’ musician … that’s understandable, and partially true however, today I’d like to highlight another side of my playing and composing … below are two examples of music I’ve written for ‘classical’ and/or ‘orchestral’ music … the first is a film score that I created for the Berlin International Film Scoring competition in 2020 …

this is how it works … they supply you with a short film that has the music removed, and you write new music for it … now, I didn’t win, but I am pretty proud of this piece AND it really opened up my mind to new compositional possibilities :)

/// ‘Embers’ ///

The next example is how I’ve used modern classical music in my own compositions … if you have the EP ‘Mycological’ or the album ‘River Song’, you’ve heard this composition entitled ‘Embers’ …

below is the full version, as the ‘River Song’ version had to be cut down to fit on the vinyl LP … in this composition, I used various effects with bowed bass and added the strings later.
