I didn’t include EVERY track on the album … just a few that I had something specifically to say about :)

‘Big Pharma’ is based on Billy Strayhorn’s tune ‘Upper Manhattan Medical Group’, which is a favorite of mine. I don’t play this song anymore live because it requires either constant upkeep or rehearsal … both of which I don’t have the time for at the moment … perhaps one day I’ll bring it back …

‘3’ is my most well known song … HOWEVER, the well known version isn’t this one … this is the original recording and probably the first time it was ever played. It is loosely based on Orrin Evan’s tune ‘Clean House’.

‘Jonesin’ is a blues that is a collage of licks from various Hank Jones’ recordings. Jones is one of my favorite pianists and this tune was a result of a dedicated study of his work. The title also refers to a crossword puzzle in a weekly Philadelphia paper that shares the same name.
