10-10 Recording Session!
This recording session was special.
It marks 4 years…almost to the day…since my last recording and features many of the same musicians AND the same audio engineer. It also marks, at least symbolically, a triumph over the pandemic that has upended so much of the music industry.
In preparation for the day, I worked for months to plan, organize, and strategize. However, as you know, when the game starts, the playbook often goes out the window.
Two early setbacks happened when my saxophonist told me he was sick, and the videographer wasn’t going to be able to make it. Such is life…so we made do with what we had.
And we DID!
In 10 hours we recorded 11 songs!
Once we were set up, we started knocking them out. Even when I stepped out to pick up dinner for everyone (the restaurant wouldn’t deliver), the band kept working on their own initiative. When I returned, they had arranged and rehearsed one of my songs and we immediately recorded it!
Then we ate!
More to Come Soon!
Over the next weeks and months, I’ll be putting together more video and entering into the mixing and mastering phases of the process. In the meantime, please enjoy this short video of some B-roll that I put together (rather hastily in the middle of the night).
I hope to be releasing some of this new material this winter, and of course, YOU will hear about it first!
Many Thanks!
I definitely could not have done this without:
Mike Lorenz: guitar
Elliot Bild: trumpet
Jon Katz: alto sax
Gusten Rudolph: drums
Jenny Maas: vocals, synths
Ibah Baskette: alto clarinet
V. Shayne Frederick: vocals
Michael Cumming: audio engineering
