Originally titled ‘Interlude 4’ … ‘Speaking Back Through Time’ has generated a lot of interest in listeners since it’s inception.

Most people want to know what it is about, since, let’s be honest, it is rather cryptic …

I wrote this piece for the ‘Voice = Power’ album, which I knew I wanted to feature a vocalist (ie V. Shayne Frederick). My goal was to write songs for him to sing, however two of them turned out to be unsingable so I reworked them into spoken word pieces.

‘Speaking Back Through Time’ was one of those songs.

This song is a letter to my younger (stupider) self, or can be seen as a letter to any younger artist. It is a constellation of lessons, advising my younger self to slow down, see the big picture, notice recurring patterns, and to stay focused on the signal while ignoring the noise.

I think we can all relate to this idea. If you could write a letter to your younger self, what would you say ?
