3813
‘3813’ came to me while driving through New Mexico.
I had stopped to get gas at the nearest outpost. It was a beautiful cloudless day, but the wind was strong and gusty. I could see the golden long grass in the distance waving like soundwaves all the way to the mountains in the distance.
Next to the gas station was a small building with the number ‘3813’ as this song played in my head.
Goodnight
‘Goodnight’ was another experiment.
It is written somewhat like a ‘round’. Kind of like ‘Row Row Row Your Boat’ can be sung if several people start in different places, it’s the same concept. There are 4 repeating melodies that are meant to interweave and yet retain their uniqueness.
This song develops slowly, like an incoming wind storm or dream on a cool summer’s night. It is part lullaby and part call to action … telling us all to imagine a better world before we go to bed, then wake up and make it happen !!!
