#1: Josh Lawrence

#1: Josh Lawrence

My guest today is critically acclaimed and Grammy nominated trumpeter, composer, and arranger Josh Lawrence. Heralded by Downbeat Magazine as the "preeminent voice among young composers", he is a member of Orrin Evans’ Captain Black Big Band, Co-founder of the Fresh Cut Orchestra, and leader of his own group through several evolutions from his Color Theory Band to Triptych.

As you will hear in our conversation, Josh and I  go way back to when I first moved to Philadelphia and he has been a constant source of inspiration to me ever since. This man is the real deal: consummate professional, innovative artistic voice, and a super fun dude to hang out with. I had a great time catching up with him, learning about his processes, and hearing about what he is up to.
